What You’ll Create
Craft your very own Enchanted Nature Dreamcatcher! ๐ By combining simple household items like Paper Plates and String with beautiful Fallen Leaves, you’ll weave a magical web designed to catch good dreams and bring nature’s beauty into your bedroom.
How to Set It Up
Step 1: Prepare the Hoop
โ ๏ธ Adult Helper Needed โ Use Scissors to carefully cut the centre out of the paper plate so you are left with just the outer ring. Use the Hole Punch to make holes evenly spaced around the inner edge of the hoop.
Step 2: Weave the Web
Tie one end of a long piece of string to any hole on the hoop. Weave the string back and forth across the middle, threading it through different holes to create a criss-cross web pattern.
Step 3: Thread the Magic
Before you finish weaving your web, thread a few pieces of Tube Pasta onto the string. Tie off the end of the string securely to the hoop when you’re happy with your web.
Step 4: Add the Dangling Tails
Cut three shorter pieces of string. Tie them to three holes at the bottom of your hoop. Tie Fallen Leaves and extra pasta onto these strings so they dangle down like magical feathers.
Have fun!
- ๐ฌ๏ธ Hang your dreamcatcher near a window and watch the leaves flutter in the breeze.
- ๐จ Paint the paper plate hoop with your favourite colours before you start weaving.
- ๐ฆ Shine a flashlight through the web at night to make cool shadows on the wall.
Why It’s Amazing
- Fine Motor Skills: Threading the string through holes and tying knots is excellent practice for little fingers. ๐งต
- Creative Expression: Designing the web pattern and choosing where to place the decorations encourages artistic choices. ๐จ
- Nature Connection: Using fallen leaves links the craft to the outdoors and the changing seasons. ๐
Pro Tips
For ages 3-5: Pre-cut the paper plate and punch the holes in advance. Let them focus on threading the string and dropping pasta onto the ends.
For ages 5-8: Encourage them to create symmetrical patterns with their string weaving and pasta placement.
For ages 8-12: Challenge them to weave a classic spiral dreamcatcher web instead of a random criss-cross pattern.
